Dr. Pierré Mouton was raised in the Orange Free State. After he matriculated, he completed his compulsory military service, and then began his undergraduate studies at the University of the Orange Free State.

Upon graduating he travelled abroad to gain further experience in the medical field before returning to Cape Town to commence his surgical training at Tygerberg Hospital. Once qualified as a general surgeon he undertook a specialist consultant post during which he super-specialized in vascular surgery. Ever since then Dr Mouton has been in private practice.

- Management of Peripheral arterial disease, both endovascularly and open surgery
- Advanced treatment of deep vein thrombosis
- Treatment of chronic venous insufficiency
- Vascular access for dialysis patients
- Endovascular aneurysm repair
- Varicocele embolization
