First Consultation

The initial consultation with Dr. Mouton is an opportunity for him to get information. It is also an opportunity for you to discuss your symptoms, history and potential treatment options with him so some preparation is necessary.

When you come for your first appointment please remember to bring your:

  • Referral letter
  • Medical aid information
  • X-rays, CT scans and relevant test results you have
  • Please have a list of your medications and previous significant operations and illnesses.

It would also be helpful to prepare a list of questions you can discuss with Dr. Mouton prior to the appointment so that you don’t miss anything.

During the initial consultation, Dr. Mouton will perform a clinical examination and go through your medical history to determine your condition. He will then spend some time explaining the condition to you, and present you with various treatment options.

Dr. Mouton will often recommend the non-surgical approach as vascular surgery carries a lot more risk as a treatment option. Vascular patients should look to surgery as a last resort and Dr. Mouton will only recommend surgery if absolutely necessary.

During your consultation, Dr. Mouton may require a vascular ultrasound to determine the cause or severity of your condition. In these cases, radiologists will come in and assist in performing the ultrasound and Dr. Mouton will discuss the results with you in detail.

The consultation fee is payable at the end of the consultation. For convenience, we accept both cash and cards.
